A variety science podcast

Science gets complicated. People do too.

We read the research, try to understand it, and then invite the people who did the work to tell us what we got right, what we got wrong, and what we completely missed. Follow along and learn with us.

We record Thursdays. Live episodes begin in the new year at 4:45 PM ET.

How the show works

Read it. Talk about it. Ask the expert. Wander somewhere weird.

01

Current Events

Spend some time catching up on current events, life's lessons, and whatever is funny, meaningful, annoying, delightful, or interesting that week.

02

Try to understand something

We take on research and work through what we think it means in approachable language, and share our process of learning.

03

Ask someone who knows

An author or expert joins us to tell us what landed, what didn't, and what nuance disappeared on the way.

04

Beyond the Lab with Heather

Heather takes us beyond the lab to explore something creative, unexpected, or simply funny.

“Being curious doesn't mean pretending to know everything. It means doing the work, respecting expertise, asking better questions, and being willing to change your mind.”

Why this exists

Love is part of the method.

We started this because we wanted something together that would provide an excuse to spend time together. The science matters. So do kindness, creativity, positive regard, laughter, and being allowed to be imperfect humans in public.
